A reminder to Buy Your Tickets early! Don’t forget to check out the marvelous plays that have been going on in the Vancity Culture Lab every night at 6pm! That’s before the IGNITE! night shows begin, so you can enjoy all that IGNITE! has to offer!

Also stop into The Cultch a little before each night and check out our Visual Arts Gallery ’cause this photo just doesn’t do it any justice! Bring some of that hard earned spending money with you too cause we hear some of it’s for sale! PLUS we have some official IGNITE! 2013 merch for you all to rock around town (along with some sick merch from a few of our uber-talented performers)!

May 7:

2nd post, and we’re already here!

Hello there!

It sure has been a while since we have said that! In fact, our festival is already rolling now! Our first night, The Late Late Show (try the link…no really, try it!), of IGNITE! 2013 was marvelous! We sang, we danced, we laughed, and we reflected upon the times had with our wonderful host, Jacob Samuel. Who’s also performing on word night!

Whew! So much has gone on! The IGNITE! Theatre Festival plays are now running in the Vancity Culture Lab, and they’re pretty awesome so buy some tix and go see em! We participated in an awesome one-day show, IGNITE! At Lightspeed. IGNITE! was once again at Vancouver Youth Week along the Creekside Community.

This guy happened.

And we’ve still got the rest of the festival to come! So keep on checking out our social media: Facebook, Twitter, and our newly active YouTube channel!

Keep it solid, and we’ll see you at olivia tonight!

IGNITE! Youth-Driven Arts Festival 2013

It’s that time of the year again!

Welcome to our newly renovated site! (Not sure where to find things? We’ve created a guide to help with that!)

This year we have even more awesome events for you to take part in! As our lovely slider states, one of the new features this year is a Residency Program. We are giving you the chance to use The Green House as a creative space to develop your new ideas & projects.

We’ve also added a few things to spruce up some of our preexisting opportunities. We’ve added a few new disciplines to the IGNITE! Mentorship Program (and there’s still time to apply for dancers & stage designers); added a newly devised play to The IGNITE! Theatre Festival (aka The Young Playwrights’ Festival); as well as mixing it up with new & classic IGNITE! workshops, which will be announced in the months to come!

Themes have already been selected for each night. Check each of them out here to learn what we are cooking up for 2013′s festival. And while you’re at it, why not apply for an audition? We are already accepting applications and those time slots fill up fast. So don’t wait, apply today! Film, Zine, and our Visual Arts gallery are all taking submissions now too. Click on the links to send us your art.

There’s your 2013 IGNITE! update so far…
“Like” us on Facebook, Follow us on Twitter, or keep checking back here, and we’ll keep you in the loop about everything IGNITE! Tweet us your feedback on our new site, email us any questions you may have, or hit that share button on Facebook!

Website Walkthrough

Hi there, Long time, no see. Welcome to our new site. As you can see, a lot has changed around here. But there’s no need to panic – we’re about to give you the grand tour!

Home
Home sweet home is just as familiar as always. All we’ve done is troubleshoot our social plugins.

The Festival
You can find information on the festival nights (dates, themes, etc.), The IGNITE! Theatre Festival [formerly known as The Young Playwrights' Festival], this year’s visual arts gallery, film fest, and zine by clicking on “The Festival” up at the top. Try clicking around within this page to see what IGNITE! 2013 has in store!

Artists
If you are interested in auditioning for any part of IGNITE! 2013 – including the Theatre Festival, then this page is your go-to source for what you need to know. We’ve given you a brief description about the different ways you can get involved, and links to start you on the audition/application process. Follow them for more information on how to apply.

Workshops
We decided that our workshops deserve a header of their own. Click this new button to learn about IGNITE!’s workshops for this year.

Tickets
Find out about ticket costs, pre-sale tickets, show times, and make purchases here.

Join The Panel
Discover why we are youth-driven, and how you can be a part of the process of piecing IGNITE! together (Psst…we’ll also be updating this page with a bit about who we are)!

Donate Now
This is a new feature we felt very strongly about adding. We are a voluntary operation but that doesn’t mean we don’t have expenses. We are fortunate enough to have an enormous amount of support from The Cultch, sponsors, and generous donations, and hope to continue to have your love and support! We’ve added this page to simplify the donation process, just in case you were trying to help us out and weren’t sure how to make a financial donation.

Footer Content
During our remodel, we decided that we really wanted to utilize every part of the website. Thus we’ve changed up our footer to contain even more infomation about us. We’ve added a link to our ever-important Sponsors page, an “About The Cultch” link, and our contact info!

…and that’s it! We hope that guide was helpful to you so you can find your way around the site. If you have any questions, suggestions, feedback, or comments please email the Communications Committee at comm-comm@igniteyouthfest.ca.

Sincerely,
The IGNITE! Youth-Driven Arts Festival Web Team

New Residency Program!

Are you looking for a space to develop a new project?

New in 2013 is the IGNITE! Residency program, an opportunity for young artists to develop their work in a focused and self-directed environment. As part of the program, artists will have exclusive access to a 34’x28’ space for one week. The dates of the residencies are February 18th to 23rd and March 11th to 16th. The space is located in The Cultch’s Green House Studio at 1885 Venables St. in East Vancouver. This program is open to applicants between the ages of 13 and 24.

To apply, fill out our Application for residency

What is the nature of the project, and how will you use the space?
How will your art practice benefit from this residency?
What do you want to achieve by the end of the week?

Please include the names and contact information for 2 professional references who can speak to your abilities (for example this could be a teacher or director)

Please send your letter (addressed to the Youth Panel) to Robert@thecultch.com no later than midnight on Sunday December 9th.

Eligible applicants should be 24 years of age or under.

Please note the space is in a residential neighbourhood so heavy metal band practice is not a great fit.
