Young Playwrights Festival

The 2011 Young Playwrights Festival premieres three original one-act plays, written, directed, and performed entirely by youth. The three shows are running in repertory in the VanCity Culture Lab throughout The 2011 IGNITE! Youth-Driven Arts Festival, April 25th-30th.

Hide and Go Sell

Written by Chris Nyarady
Directed by Ingrid Nilson

Media bombardment and commercial conniving reach comical heights in a new play by Nova Scotia native, Chris Narayady. Full of laughs and surprises, join Jeremy, an out-of-work and down-on-his-luck graphic designer, as he discovers a corporate design in disguise. Complete with a stellar young cast, come support the world premiere of Hide and Go Sell!

The Living Situation

Written by James Elliot
Directed by Chris Lam

Joel and Ben are moving into their first apartment. What happens is anyone’s guess…This offbeat comedy deals with the lives of four people trying to come to terms with their “living situation” while exploring friendship, responsibility, love, and movin’ out.

Onomatopoeia

Written by Sigal Samuel
Directed by Keegan Flick-Parker

They may not know it – but Zoe, Laura, and Zach are all in this together. Onomatopoeia is a dark comedy about loss that features a unique blend of humour, drama, and an immersive soundscape that invites you into the minds of the characters and asks you to examine your own perceptions.
